Monday May 11th

After chatting about how we spent the holiday last week, we reviewed giving advice.

The main construction we were focussing on is : (した)ほうが いいです (plain past) hou ga ii desu. (It would be better if you... )
And
(しない)ほうが いい です (plain negative) hou ga ii desu (it would be better if you didn't)

Another contruction for giving advice is:
(した)ら いいです。 This is the plain past plus "ra ii desu" - If you did [whatever] it would be good.

Then we practiced giving people advice about how to learn French, how to learn to cook Japanese food and what present to give Mary.

Homework was to make up a few conversations giving advice based on what we did in class. I accidentally brought along the worksheet that had some kanji without furigana so we had a bit of inadvertant kanji study at the same time.
